ABOUT US

We are certified to provide continuing and rehabilitative care for 188 residents, with 31 beds allocated for special care including Alzheimer's patients.

Maria Regina Residence is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph - Brentwood. We continue the congregation’s participation in Jesus’ mission of healing, redeeming, and liberating by ministering to those in need of skilled nursing care. Our facility organized and administered according to the policies established by the General Council of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

A Brief History

Maria Regina Convent was conceived in 1964 to replace the Infirmary at St. Joseph Convent in Flushing, NY. Maria Regina circa 1964Construction began in late 1965 and extended through early 1968. The Chapel was completed, and the altar was consecrated by Bishop Vincent J. Baldwin, Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre, on April 3, 1968. On Easter Monday, April 15, 1968, the first residents were received at Maria Regina.

Thirty years later, in order to meet the growing demands upon the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, and Maria Regina Convent, a $10 million plan of reconstruction and improvement was initiated. Construction began November 1999, and the re-dedication ceremony of the facility was held on Sunday, October 14, 2001.
